Mapping the Summit Network Drive on a Windows 95 Workstation
- Right click on the Network Neighborhood icon and then click on map network
drives.
- Select drive letter F or higher (depending on what drive letters are
currently being used with the work station).
- Make path equal to:
\\(server name)\summit
- Check the box next to Reconnect at Log-on and click ok.
Setting up system files on a Windows 95 Workstation
- Click Start->Run.
- In open, type: sysedit
- click Ok.
- Select the autoexec.bat window.
Add a statement at the bottom of the window on an empty line that says:
set smtwks=x (where x = a unique workstation number)
- Close and save the Autoexec.bat window.
- Select the Config.sys window.
Find the line that says files=x (x=some #) and change the number to 200.
If there is no files=x statement, add a line that says:
files=200.
- Close and save the config.sys window
- Close the System Configuration Editor.
Setting up system files on a DOS or Windows 3.x Workstation
- Go to a dos prompt and go to the root directory by typing: cd\.
- Type: edit autoexec.bat and insert the line mentioned above. Then click
file and save and exit.
- Type: edit config.sys and insert the line mentioned above. Then click file
and save and exit.
Setting up a Summit startup icon on a Windows 95 Workstation
- At the main Windows 95 screen, right click on the desktop.
- Select New->Shortcut.
- At the command line, type the drive letter of where Summit is installed,
followed by \summit\ut\utstart.exe. For example, F:\summit\ut\utstart. Click
next.
- Enter the name, space followed by the version. For example, Summit v2.7.
- Right click on the Summit DOS icon.
- Click on properties/program, check close on exit box, and then change
icon.
- Click on Browse.
- Select the drive letter of where Summit is located and scroll to the right
until you find the Summit icon.
- Select the icon and click open. Select ok.
