Suggested weekly traffic activities

We recommend the following weekly traffic activities:

Use extend active schedules to activate schedule dates for an additional week in the future. Summit needs some processing time to complete this activity. The time required depends on the following:

The amount of data in your system

The number of active schedules that you request

The date you choose should include any dates for which you would like to see schedules or avail reports.

We suggest you complete this activity on a Wednesday or Thursday because Mondays and Fridays are usually busier days.

Print a schedule discrepancy summary for the week to do a final check of scheduling errors.

Run a "Database Inconsistencies" test.

Miscellaneous traffic reports

Table 1: Frequently used reports lists the most commonly used traffic reports, along with a brief description of that report. Most of these reports are designed to be used as diagnostic tools to ensure your programs are scheduling as they should and that your contracts are correctly scheduled and billed.

Frequently used reports

This report. . . Is commonly used for the following . . .
Avails defined summary The Avails Defined Summary includes a sequential listing of all commercial time that is defined for a specific date or range of dates. When you’re first entering programming or making major changes to programming, you may want to print this summary to verify the commercial breaks were entered correctly.

You do not need to define an avail break as program type "AV" for commercials to run during that break, but it will not appear on this summary.

Log spot summary Prints the run times of all spots scheduled on a particular day. This report can be printed the day before to provide spot run times for anxious advertisers, or after the log has aired.
Makegoods pending report Includes all spots in the makegoods pending file. This report is for informational purposes only and is especially helpful since it shows contract page numbers, the date spots did not air, advertiser, contract run dates and times, length, quantity to run per day, and separation information.
Programs to run summary Prints avails by program/time, which is especially useful when first entering programs or making major changes to the program log. Use this report to verify that your programs were correctly entered.
Schedule discrepancy summary Describes ordered versus what was actually scheduled by day or by week.
Skeleton schedule A skeleton schedule is a detailed printout of your program log format without spots. A skeleton schedule can be run for days that are not extended as active schedules yet. This report is useful if you have a lot of pre-empt programs and/or variable segment timings because the skeleton schedule will print out pre-empts and not the regular program scheduled for that time.
Spot tracking report Provides the status for the entire schedule page.
Spots to run summary Includes all spots entered through enter contracts that are to run for a specified period of time. You can sort this summary by week or day, and print by advertiser, time, advertiser totals, industry separation or product description. This report shows horizontal rotation as ordered or scheduled.
