The Summit System will run on most any modern Pentium based PC running Windows 95 or greater. At least 128 mb of memory is required; more is better. Internet access (to download updates, etc.) is required. Some method of backing up files (tape, etc.), antivirus protection, and a UPS are recommended. A printer is required for printing reports, invoices, etc. If you want multi-user access, you'll need to run the System on a LAN. We support Novell, Windows, or Linux based networks. NO special database or application server is required. We use the Pervasive.SQL database which you will need to acquire and install on your server or standalone workstation. We recommend that you discuss hardware choices with Summit’s Software Support staff before you buy it. When purchasing hardware, factor in your operation’s tolerance levels and desires. For one operation, a lower cost system may be more important and less throughput more tolerable; for another, throughput may be paramount. |
