StandAlone Installation

The database engine we use is Pervasive.SQL, (2000i sp 4, or V8.1 and above). You will need to purchase and install the engine. Please refer to Pervasive's documentation to follow the appropriate engine install instructions (available online at http://www.pervasive.com/support/technical/online_manuals.asp).

CAUTION: if you have installed any software that uses a previous version of Pervasive or Btrieve (especially v6.15), check with that vendor to make sure it is compatible with the latest version of Pervasive.

Please print this page and check off the steps as you complete them.

Start the Pervasive setup. Accept the default location and "typical installation". If the installation does NOT PASS all the connectivity and functionality tests, contact Pervasive Tech Support for help in configuring your system.

Download SmtInst1.exe from the Summit web site to your desktop or a temporary folder and execute it. (Call Support at 800-771-1827 x4 to get the installation password.)

Insert the installation CD. If the installer doesn’t automatically start, run setup.exe from the CD. (Start>Run>D:\setup.exe, where D: is the drive letter of your CD)

Follow the instructions as presented by the installation wizard, accepting defaults unless otherwise instructed by Support.

At the end of the installation process, you will be prompted to create your ODBC database and download your license key file from your folder on the Summit FTP site.

Please accept the default Database Name of Summit unless instructed by Support to change it. Press the Create button to create the database.

Enter your User Name and Password (as provided by Support) to access the FTP site. Press the Download button to download the license file to the Smt folder on your system.

Note: Pressing the Do Later buttons will cancel this operation. Do this only if instructed by Support. You will have to execute this function (suinst.exe) from your Smt\Modules folder and complete the process (or do it manually) before logging into the system.
